A huge fire broke out in a landfill in Piotrkow Tribunalski (Poland). RMF24 reported this on Sunday, September 29.
“At the very beginning, the fire engulfed a pile of garbage, then the fire spread to the room where the garbage was sorted. The total area of the fire was 6 thousand square meters,” said the press secretary of the local department of the State Fire Service, Andrzej Pawlak.
Smoke from the Public Utilities Plant in Piotrków Tribunalski is visible from various parts of the city, as well as the surrounding area.
After only four hours the fire was brought under control. Rescuers said the firefighting effort will continue until the morning of the 30th. They added that there was no threat to nearby buildings.
