In Sumy, rescue and search operations have been completed at the site of the suicide attack carried out today, September 28, in the morning.
This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service.
The enemy carried out several suicide bomb attacks today:
- First, as a result of the attack, the building of medical institutions suffered significant destruction and damage, and several fires arose. State Emergency Service employees evacuated people to a safe place and carried out extinguishing operations when information was received about the threat of a second strike;
- this time the hostile hit was near the epicenter of the incident between two five-story residential buildings. The State Emergency Service employees managed to retreat. Subsequently, residents were evacuated from damaged residential buildings and fires were eliminated.
Special equipment was brought to the impact site to carry out high-altitude work.
According to preliminary information, a total of eight people were killed and another 11 were injured as a result of the Russian strikes.
Rescue and search operations have been completed. It was possible to evacuate 122 people. Emergency restoration work continues, the department noted.
