This is the first of a new series of Zhou nuclear boats. He sank the last of the shipyard’s tools, sources said.
The latest Chinese nuclear submarine sank near the Wuhan shipyard in late May – early June. Chinese authorities still do not acknowledge the fact of the crash. The Wall Street Journal reported this yesterday, citing sources in the US government.
It is claimed to be the first of a new series of Zhou nuclear boats. She sank while being laid in the shipyard.
The first signs of a possible disaster in Wuhan appeared last summer, when former US submarine officer and senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) Thomas Shugart noticed unusual activity from floating cranes in commercial satellite imagery. Sugar reported that cranes were used to rescue the sunken submarine.

The submarine was built by the state-owned China State Shipbuilding Corp. She was seen moored in the Yangtze River at the end of May, when she was undergoing final fittings before going to sea.
The newspaper wrote that American officials did not record the Chinese side taking water or atmospheric samples for radiation.
In turn, Thomas Shugart said that the risk of radiation leakage is probably low because the submarine does not go to sea and its reactors do not operate at high power levels.
Shugart also believes that the submarine can still be repaired.
Earlier, the media reported that China for the first time put all its aircraft at sea. Journalists also called this fact “scary” for Taiwan.
