The United States will transfer weapons worth $2.4 billion to Ukraine.
This military aid package will provide Ukraine with additional air defense, drones and air-to-ground munitions, and will strengthen Ukraine’s defense industrial base. This was reported by the press services of the Pentagon and the White House.
It is noted that the weapons will be transferred to Ukraine as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). Thus, these weapons will be purchased from manufacturers and will not be issued from the Pentagon stockpile.
What’s included in the new $2.4 billion aid package:
- ammunition and support for Ukrainian air defense systems;
- air-to-ground ammunition;
- drones and components to support Ukrainian drone production;
- anti-drone equipment;
- unmanned surface vessels;
- secure communication equipment;
- equipment and materials to support Ukrainian ammunition production;
- spare parts, maintenance and support and other auxiliary equipment.
It is noted that this is the 21st package within the framework of the USAI initiative for Ukraine from the United States.
In addition, US President Joe Biden issued a decree allocating $5.55 billion. to help Ukraine with American reserves.
Let us remind you that President Vladimir Zelensky said that the United States has allocated new military assistance for Ukraine in the amount of $7.9 billion. The assistance package will include, among other things, an additional Patriot air defense battery, other air defense and interceptor assets, UAVs, long-range missiles and air-to-ground munitions.
