US President Joe Biden announced the next meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine.
A group of 50 allies will meet in the Rammstein format in October. The Ukrainian leader made the corresponding statement after announcing the allocation of a total of $7.9 billion in American aid to Ukraine. This is stated in a statement by the White House.
Next month, I will convene a meeting at the level of the leaders of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine in Germany to coordinate the efforts of more than 50 countries that support Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression, the American leader said.
As is known, the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine, which was created to assess Ukraine’s defense needs and provide assistance, first met on April 26, 2022, at the U.S. Air Force Base Ramstein in Germany. Since then, these meetings have received this name.
Initially, 40 countries took part in Ramstein, but now the contact group already includes 50 countries.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the United States has allocated $7.9 billion in new military aid to Ukraine. The aid package will include, in particular, an additional Patriot air defense battery, other air defense systems and interceptors, UAVs, long-range missiles, and air-to-ground munitions.
