The underground Webmoney broker network financed Russian agents in Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine and the State Security Service have eliminated a network of underground online services that operated because of the Russian payment system Webmoney, which is banned in Ukraine. Some of the transfers via this platform were intended to finance Russian agents. This was reported by the SBU press center on September 25.
Law enforcement officers carried out comprehensive measures in ten regions: Ternopil, Lviv, Rivne, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Sumy, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia and Zaporizhia. 12 dealers suspected of illegal activities were exposed.
These people illegally accepted electronic funds from clients, including from the aggressor country. Then they converted this money into the required currency and cashed it into bank details or cash. Thus, they transferred tens of millions in hryvnia equivalent through their exchangers.
The criminals earned money from each transaction. They searched for potential clients through specialized websites where they placed advertisements.
All detainees have already been notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 200 (illegal actions with documents for transfer, payment cards and other means of access to bank accounts, electronic money, equipment for their production) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Their actions should be qualified under Article 209 (legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Let us recall that in Kharkov, a mobilized 45-year-old local resident turned out to be a Russian agent who, on the instructions of the occupiers, was supposed to adjust an air strike on one of the units of his brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
