The order explained that moving the two brigades north would allow the fight against the Hezbollah group to continue.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the decision to involve two reserve brigades in military operations in northern Israel. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday, September 25.
The command explained that the transfer of two brigades to the north will allow us to continue the fight against the group Hezbollah and ensure the return of residents in the north of the country.
In turn, the commander of the IDF Northern Military District, Major General Ori Gordin, expressed the need for ready readiness for a ground operation in Lebanon.
On Wednesday, Israeli planes hit 280 weapons depots and launch sites in Lebanon.
Earlier, the former head of Israel’s Military Intelligence Directorate, Amos Yadlin, said that the air campaign in Lebanon, which has been ongoing for two weeks, will be followed by a ground offensive.
At the same time, sources told The Jerusalem Post that the main part of the ground operation in Lebanon should be completed at the beginning of November to avoid military operations in the mountains in winter.
Let’s recall that on the morning of September 23, Israel escalated its attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces attacked several hundred of the group’s targets.
The IDF is also targeting local homes where the army says the group’s weapons may be stored. Before the attack, Israel sent messages to the Lebanese calling on them to leave their homes.
