In October 2023, a foreign citizen, operating a ship under the flag of Cameroon, made an illegal entry into the Sevastopol sea trade port closed by Ukraine.
The captain of the foreign sea vessel USKO MFU, which exported agricultural products through the closed sea ports of the occupied Crimea, was charged on suspicion. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General on Wednesday, September 25.
The suspect was charged with violating the procedure for entering and exiting the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
It was noted that in October 2023, a foreign citizen, operating a ship under the flag of Cameroon, in violation of the law of Ukraine and international law of the sea, made an illegal entry into the Sevastopol sea trade port which was closed by Ukraine. There the ship was loaded with more than three thousand tons of agricultural products intended for a Turkish company.
In November 2023, the suspect illegally left the ship from the port of Sevastopol. The captain periodically turns off the Automatic Identification System AIS, which is a violation of navigational safety, and enters fictitious information about the ship’s passage into it.
In July 2024, under the procedural guidance of the autonomous prosecutor’s office, the USKO MFU vessel was detained in the waters of the port of Reni, Odessa region. He was arrested and transferred to the management of ARMA.
Another ship captain, who in June 2024 led it during illegal measures and left the port of Sevastopol, was declared suspicious under Part 2 of Art. 332-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as of July 2024.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained a foreign cargo ship and its captain, who worked for the aggressor country Russia, in the waters of the Odessa region. The attacker helped the invaders to export Ukrainian grain from Crimea.
