MP Artem Dmytruk, who illegally left Ukraine and is now in London, will appear in court in the UK.
There he wants to challenge the extradition request from the Ukrainian government, the politician told the British publication The Independent.
Dmytruk, a deacon in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP), will argue at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday that he is a victim of political harassment by the Ukrainian government because of his support for the church, The Independent reports. He also said the UK government provided him with security after he arrived in the country.
Dmitry is suspected of assaulting a military man and a law enforcement officer; at the end of August, he crossed the Ukrainian state border towards Moldova. The DBR notified three people who “illegally transported” the deputy of suspicion.
