The aircraft carrier Harry Truman, along with a guided-missile cruiser and two destroyers, will be stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The American nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman (Harry Truman) left the Norfolk base in Virginia and headed for the Middle East. The US Navy reported it.
“The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman departed Norfolk Naval Air Station on September 23 for a planned deployment,” the statement said.
It is expected to deploy to the Eastern Mediterranean with a guided-missile cruiser and two destroyers from the carrier strike group amid the crisis in the region.
Currently, in the Middle East in the Gulf of Oman there is already an American aircraft carrier strike group, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which includes three missile destroyers. In the Red Sea area, the nuclear submarine USS Georgia, capable of carrying up to 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles, and two missile destroyers are on combat duty.
It will be recalled that the United States will send additional troops to the Middle East amid the escalation of Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
Currently, there are approximately 40 thousand American troops and dozens of aircraft in the Middle East.
