On September 24, Joe Biden addressed the UN General Assembly for the last time as US President.
We cannot stop, we cannot be distracted, and we will not stop supporting Ukraine until Ukraine wins with a just and lasting peace under the UN Charter, the US President emphasized.
In his opinion, the Russians failed to weaken NATO; on the contrary, the Alliance became even more united.
Biden said that we must not get tired of Ukraine, we must support it until a fair and lasting peace is achieved.
Now the world must decide whether we will continue to support Ukraine in gaining its freedom, whether we will step back and allow the destruction of Ukraine. We must not get tired, we must not divert our gaze, we must support Ukraine until it receives a fair and lasting peace, Biden said, speaking at the UN General Assembly.
Biden began at the UN by reminiscing about the beginning of his career, how in 1972 he was first elected to the Senate at the age of 29.
“I know I look like I’m 40,” Biden joked.
Speaking about Ukraine, he stated that his policy had been successful and called for further support for Kyiv.
Putin is not achieving his main goal: Ukraine is not destroyed, and NATO is stronger than before. We cannot allow the situation to remain unchanged, we must maintain our support for Ukraine to preserve the freedom of this country, the president said.
Biden also spoke about the need for UN reform.
The UN needs to adapt, to hear new voices, new views. This is precisely why we supported the expansion of the UN Security Council, the president said.
