A battalion commander who, in exchange for bribes, allowed soldiers to serve in the rear, in Transcarpathia, was exposed.
Some of the personnel were to be transferred to a unit serving in the combat zone, the rest were to remain in western Ukraine. The commander offered his subordinates to pay for the opportunity to remain in the rear.
Law enforcement officers documented the receipt of $1,300 from one of their subordinates for his inclusion in the list of “rear guards.” Other servicemen also paid for a place in the guard’s mouth.
According to operational data, the commander’s accomplice received 300 thousand hryvnia into his own bank accounts, as well as about 30 thousand dollars in cash.
On September 20, the battalion commander and his accomplice were detained, the State Bureau of Investigation reports.
