In total, since March 2022, New Zealand has imposed sanctions against more than 1.7 thousand individuals and legal entities, as well as some trade measures against Russia.
New Zealand has introduced new sanctions against Russia and Belarus over Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. This was announced by New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters on September 24, the press service of the New Zealand government.
The new sanctions are aimed at five individuals and six legal entities. In particular, the restrictions are directed against individuals involved in “Russia’s occupation of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the Russian military-industrial complex, as well as Belarusian individuals and legal entities that provide support for this attack.”
It is noted that the introduction of sanctions against the Belarusian figure is the result of joint efforts among international “like-minded partners” aimed at condemning and bringing to justice those who “support illegal actions” of Russia.
“By joining more than 35 other countries in imposing sanctions on those who support Russian aggression, we are increasing the price to be paid by the Russian war machine,” the New Zealand Prime Minister said.
It was also reported that since March 2022, New Zealand has imposed sanctions against more than 1.7 thousand individuals and legal entities, as well as some trade measures against Russia.
Let’s recall that in July, New Zealand also introduced new sanctions against the Russian Federation. They are directed against seven individuals and 12 organizations that support Russian aggression, are involved in the illegal supply of weapons from North Korea to Russia for use in Ukraine, as well as against Iranian entities that provide military aid to Russia in the form of kamikaze drones.
