The massive drone attack was repelled by Ukrainian air force defenders.
On the night of September 24, the enemy launched 81 Shahed-type strike UAVs at the Russian cities of Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The aggressor also attacked with an Iskander-M ballistic missile from the Rostov region, launched one missile of an unknown type from the Kursk region and two Kh-59/69 aircraft missiles from the airspace of the Bryansk region. The Ukrainian Air Force reported this on Telegram.
The main direction of the attack was in the north and center of Ukraine. The attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
During the battle, 66 “Shakheds” were destroyed. They were destroyed in the Kyiv, Zhitomir, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kirovograd, Poltava, Sumy and Nikolaev regions. In addition, 12 UAVs were lost in several regions of Ukraine.
The Air Force called on Ukrainians, upon discovering suspicious objects similar to drones, not to take any action on their own, but to immediately notify law enforcement or the local military administration.
Let us recall that on the night of September 23, the enemy attacked Ukraine with two Kh-59/69 guided air missiles and four Shaheds. During the battle, three enemy UAVs were destroyed in the Sumy region. The remaining air targets were one Shahed and two guided air missiles, which did not reach their targets due to active counteraction by electronic warfare.
