Ukrainian energy facilities have been attacked by the Russian army more than 1,000 times.
That is how many strikes on energy facilities the enemy has carried out since October 2022. This affected the stability of the energy system, and Ukraine lost a significant part of its generation. Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolesnikol said this on September 22 on the air of the telethon.
Despite this, the largest repair campaign is currently ongoing. In fact, we are focused on maximally resuming the work of those energy facilities where repairs can be carried out, the official emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of Energy also commented on the statement by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga that the aggressor country is planning strikes on critical nuclear power facilities in Ukraine ahead of winter. He noted that this information has already been passed on to the IAEA and Western partners.
Kolesnik emphasized that the Russian missile and drone attack on August 26 showed that the invaders are deliberately hitting facilities and substations on which the operation of nuclear power plants depends.
Recall that the day before, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga stated that the Russian Federation is preparing attacks on critical nuclear power facilities in Ukraine before the winter period. The enemy may strike open switchgear of nuclear power plants and transmission substations, which are critical for the safe operation of nuclear power.
