Switzerland will simplify work for Ukrainian refugees

The Ministry of Justice and the police are preparing a consultation project that will help Ukrainians with S status to find work.

Switzerland plans to introduce consultations for Ukrainian refugees, which should simplify their work. The country’s government has issued corresponding instructions to the Ministry of Justice and Police, reports swiss.info.

It was noted that the current requirement for a work permit is proposed to be replaced by a registration system. The project is expected to be ready by February 2025.

It is planned that refugees with S status will also be required to register with the state employment service. Workers must be able to change cantons and must participate in integration activities.

According to the Swiss Migration Service, there are currently 66,182 Ukrainians with valid S status However, 26,392 S status permits have been terminated since they were first issued in March 2022. According to the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), the majority of refugees voluntarily surrender their S permit or leave Switzerland.

S protection status gives you the right to live and work in Switzerland, as well as access to social security.
