The French leader spoke about a new form of organization in Europe and a rethinking of relations with Russia.
After the war, it will be necessary to rethink the relationship of all of Europe with Russia. French President Emmanuel Macron said this on Sunday, September 22, during the Meeting for Peace, organized by the Catholic community of Sant’Egidio, reports Ukrinform.
“We need to think about a new form of organization for Europe and rethink our relationship with Russia after the war in Ukraine,” Macron said.
He also spoke about tomorrow’s peace in Europe in a new form and a new reality, which requires the development of a new international order.
“This is undoubtedly the greatest challenge at present, because our current arrangement is incomplete and incomplete as it was conceived at the end of the Second World War, and therefore does not have at its heart the problems that subsequently arose and became dominating. ,” – said the president.
At the meeting, which was attended by religious leaders, politicians and experts, the French leader said it was necessary to consider that “most of the countries on this planet and many of the most populated countries did not exist when the seats were allocated .” This is why the global order in which the world lives today is “blocked.”
Macron promised to return to the issue next week at the UN. He will be at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“We need an order where some countries cannot block others and where countries are represented with dignity,” Macron said.
He added that it needs to be done in fairer bodies, such as the UN, the World Bank or the International Monetary Fund.
We remind you that on Sunday at the summit in New York, the UN reform plan developed under the leadership of Germany was approved.
Earlier, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said the reform of the UN Security Council should include expanding the composition, removing the veto power for any state and expelling any member involved in an “illegal war” like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
