Artillery shelling was carried out using two high-explosive fragmentation shells of 152 mm caliber and Lancet unmanned loitering ammunition, which is only in service with the Russian Armed Forces.
Law enforcement officers collected evidence that on September 12, the Russian army committed another war crime in the Donetsk region and attacked the vehicles of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the village of Verolubovka during the distribution of humanitarian aid. The Office of the Prosecutor General announced this on Saturday, September 21.
The department recalled that three men died at the scene of the attack. Two of their colleagues sustained shrapnel wounds and mine explosion injuries.
Law enforcement officials identified two artillery shell hits and one hit from an attack UAV. Ammunition fragments and drone debris were recovered from the scene.
Based on the results of investigative actions, inspection of the scene of the incident, examination and interrogation of witnesses, it was found that the artillery attack was carried out by two high-explosive fragmentation artillery shells of 152-mm caliber and an unmanned loitering Lancet. ammunition, which is only in service with the Russian Armed Forces.
“The 152-mm shells were used in conjunction with a drone, which has a laser rangefinder-target designator, and independently detects and travels to the target. This not only explains the destruction of the Lancet UAV found at the scene, but also indicates the deliberate nature of the attack on vehicles and personnel of the international Committee of the Red Cross,” the message said.
Taking into account the traces of damage to the surrounding buildings and vehicles, as well as the recorded locations where the bullets hit, the direction of arrival was predetermined.
According to the investigation, the firing positions of the artillery units were probably located in the area of the village of Yagodnoye, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, a territory now occupied by the Russians.
In the occupied territory where the gun was fired, the 1065th artillery regiment of the 98th airborne division and the artillery unit of the 200th separate motorized rifle brigade were participating in the conduct of battles.
These units are armed with artillery systems for firing 152 mm bullets and Lancet strike UAVs.
We remind you that the Red Cross has condemned the attack on its personnel in the Donetsk region. An ICRC team prepares to distribute wood and charcoal briquettes in the village of Verolubovka to help local residents prepare for the coming winter.
