At a meeting of G7 culture ministers, the United States announced the allocation of $1 million to the International Center for the Study of the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) to protect Ukraine’s cultural heritage. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine on Friday, September 20.
The grant agreement was signed by US Assistant Secretary of State Lee Satterfield and ICCROM CEO Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral.
“This initiative is an important step in strengthening international partnerships aimed at preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage, which has been under threat since 2022,” the statement said.
It noted that the funding is part of a broader US program worth $7 million aimed at preserving the country’s cultural heritage.
