Each country must make its own decision on the weapons it transfers to Ukraine. The United States continues to discuss this with allies and partners.
The United States continues to discuss with partners the possibility of allowing Ukraine to launch long-term strikes on Russian territory using Western weapons. US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller announced this in a briefing on Thursday, September 19.
Thus, he commented on the resolution of the European Parliament calling for the lifting of restrictions on Ukraine for strikes deep into the Russian Federation.
“It’s something we’ve been talking about with our allies and partners for some time,” Miller said.
He recalled that some European countries, as well as the United States, allowed Ukraine to use some types of weapons against Russian targets in the border area.
“For other countries, they, of course, must make their own decisions about what permission they give for the use of any weapons they transfer to Ukraine. And we will continue to discuss this with our allies. and partner,” Miller said.
We remind you that today the European Parliament called on the member countries of the European Union to remove restrictions on the use of Western weapons for Ukraine to hit targets on the territory of Russia. This is stated in the resolution adopted at the EP meeting in Strasbourg. The document also notes that insufficient supplies of ammunition and weapons and restrictions on their use could undermine the efforts.
