Disney’s next movie to hit theaters, “Moana 2,” will introduce the protagonist’s younger sister, whose relationship was inspired by reality

Disney’s next film to hit theaters, “Moana 2” will follow the titular princess in a new adventure surrounded by new characters, including Simea, the protagonist’s younger sister, whose personality was shaped through real-life experiences. David Derrick Jr.the director of the plot.

In an interview with EW magazine (via Omelete), Derrick said he has a daughter named Samea21 years old, and a youngest son, just seven. He says that, during the Covid 19 pandemic, they spent a lot of time together, but that when she returned to live far from home, the little boy and he struggled to adapt to the new routine.

He would grab her and say, ‘Samea, when are we going to live together forever again?’ It was so hard, but I was seeing things that we all have to go through as we grow up. It’s beautiful and it’s hard,” the filmmaker recalled.

As a result, her family’s experiences helped shape the dynamics between Simea and Moana, as the sisters suffer through a temporary farewell after Moana receives a call from her ancestors to leave the island and sail across the ocean with the purpose of uniting the people again.

Furthermore, in the trailer, more is revealed about the relationship between Simea and Moana, as the navigator princess is more than just a companion for the little girl, guiding her while revealing the history of the island, this being an important choice for the plot of the two, according to Kevin Webbone of the title’s animators.

“The relationship between Simea and Moana was the most important thing to try to decode and unravel that relationship. So Moana is not only her older sister, she’s a guardian and a leader for Simea, but Moana has this unique relationship where she’s the only one who can talk to Simea as a peer and reach her deep down.”

“Moana 2” is scheduled to premiere in Brazilian cinemas on November 27.
