The Indian Foreign Ministry called the Reuters report on the supply of shells “speculative” and “false and malicious.”
India does not export artillery shells to Ukraine. This statement was published by the official representative of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Randhir Jaiswal, on the social network X on Thursday, September 19.
“We found the message from Reuters It is speculative and capable of misleading it suggests possible violations on the part of India, which it is not, which means it is false and harmful,” the message said.
The department ensured that India has an impeccable reputation in complying with international obligations for the export of military and dual-use goods.
“India conducts its defense exports taking into account its international non-proliferation obligations and based on its own exclusive legal and regulatory framework, which encompasses a comprehensive assessment of relevant standards, including commitment to the end user and certification,” the Foreign Ministry assured.
Earlier on Thursday, Reuters, citing various sources, reported that intermediaries from Europe have been buying shells from India for more than a year and supplying them to Ukraine. Among such mediators are Italy and the Czech Republic.
