Explosions at an ammunition depot in Toropka, Tver region of Russia, struck by a drone on the night of today, September 18, caused a small earthquake.
This is evidenced by data from the volcano and earthquake tracking service Volcanodiscovery.
A minor earthquake measuring 2.8 magnitude occurred 17.6 km from Toropets, Tver Oblast, Russia, early Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024, at 3:56 a.m. local time, the service’s website notes.
The tremors occurred at a very shallow depth of 0 km and were not felt (or at least were not reported), the report says.
There were several more weaker earthquakes later.
According to the head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, this large ammunition depot contained:
- missiles for Grads, S-300 and S-400;
- produced ballistic missiles for Iskander;
- began to stockpile North Korean KN23 missiles.
