Massive floods in Poland have already killed seven people.
In recent hours, Polish authorities have confirmed the death of two more people as a result of the elements. Thus, in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in the city of Lądek-Zdrój, rescuers found the body of a man in a car. Law enforcement officers established that the deceased was not a local. And in the city of Stronie Śląski in the same voivodeship, police found the body of a man on the bank of a river. This was reported by RAP.
According to the spokesperson of the local branch of the rescue service, Violetta Martushevskaya, the scene of the incident was guarded by the police, the prosecutor and investigators are taking measures to establish the identity of the deceased.
Polish police said they were the sixth and seventh confirmed victims of the floods.
As is known, as a result of large-scale flooding in four affected voivodeships, the educational process was suspended, and the day before, the Polish government for the first time declared a state of natural disaster in the affected areas.
Let us recall that in some places in Poland, 215 liters of precipitation per square meter fell in 24 hours. In the cities of Nysa, Jelenia Góra, Głucholazy, Lądek Zdrój, Czechowice Dedzice, Stronie Śląski and Kłodzko, the water level rose to catastrophic levels, in some places even exceeding the “millennium flood” of 1997.
In many towns and villages the situation was catastrophic. Floods destroyed houses, schools, hospitals, roads and bridges. Authorities evacuated thousands of people.
