During his tenure as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny spoke out against the offensive of Ukrainian troops on the Kursk region of Russia.
Zaluzhny questioned Bankova’s intentions to attack Kursk region. Volodymyr Zelensky showed the former commander-in-chief the plan of the attack, and he asked the president what would happen next. The head of state did not answer this question. Zaluzhny felt that the attack on Kursk region was a game. This was reported by Politico, citing an unnamed official.
It is noted that the former commander of the 80th airborne assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Emil Ishkulov, also spoke out against the offensive on Kursk region. He was removed from his post for a conflict with the top military leadership at the end of July 2024.
The article says Ishkulov feared that his brigade might be too vulnerable inside the aggressor country, which could cause the number of casualties to rise sharply.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in early September that Ukraine was implementing all the defined tasks within the framework of its operation in the Kursk region. Today, the largest replenishment of the exchange fund is in this direction alone.
