Igor Kolomoisky was deprived of Cypriot citizenship.
Local authorities had recently confirmed that they had been obtained “through fraud, false statements and concealment of material facts.”
The decision of the Cypriot authorities stated that Kolomoisky “was and is a person of dubious character, while his naturalization created and creates a huge risk of bad reputation for the Republic of Cyprus.”
The decision, which is part of Cyprus’s general policy of controlling investment passports, was made on September 4, but information about it appeared in the media only the day before.
Philenews notes that the key role was played by the fact that Kolomoisky evaded taxes in Russia. There, this case was investigated against him in 2008.
And already in 2010, Kolomoisky received citizenship of Cyprus – he was given a “golden passport” in exchange for investments. In addition, the businessman also has Israeli citizenship.
