Today, about 300 thousand men of mobilization age live in Poland. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga at the 20th Yalta European Strategy meeting in Kyiv, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, Ukraine is in close talks with Poland, in particular, on the project of training a military unit on the territory of Poland, which is planned to be formed from Ukrainian volunteers living abroad.
“This project, it seems to me, will be very important from the point of view, in particular, of strengthening our defense capability. According to estimates from the Ukrainian side, about 300 thousand male citizens of mobilization age currently living in Poland total, almost one million are abroad And it’s also about justice,” Sibiga noted.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added that the duty to defend their homeland applies to all citizens, regardless of their place of residence.
Let’s remember that Poland is proposing to European countries to remove social payments to Ukrainian men of mobilization age in Europe to encourage them to serve in the army in their country.
