The United States of America and Great Britain have granted Ukraine permission to strike long-range missiles at targets behind Russian lines.
London and Washington have decided to allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use long-range Storm Shadow missiles. However, neither the US nor Britain is yet ready to announce this officially. This was reported by The Guardian, citing its own sources.
It is noted that the deployment of Western long-range missiles “must be part of a broader plan aimed at ending a full-scale war.”
The article also says that US President Joe Biden does not accept Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s version that using Storm Shadow to strike targets in the rear of an aggressor country would be tantamount to starting a war between NATO and Russia.
Let us recall that the day before, White House National Security Representative John Kirby stated that the US does not yet plan to announce a new policy on Ukraine and the use of long-range missiles.
Earlier, The Times reported that Washington could give permission for strikes deep into the aggressor country with British Storm Shadows and French Scalps, since London and Paris support this initiative. However, US President Joe Biden is unlikely to give the green light to the use of ATACMS missiles.
