The court dismissed the lawsuit filed by Svetlana Kryukova, a journalist for the pro-Russian and banned in Ukraine publication “Strana”, against blogger and volunteer Igor Lachenkov. She claimed that he had encroached on her honor.
In addition, the judges returned Kryukova’s claim against lawyer Evgeny Pronin without consideration.
But Kryukova’s lawsuit against combat officer Roman Sinitsyn is scheduled for consideration in the Pechersk Court on October 30 at 11:30.
Kryukova’s lawyer, Alexei Shevchuk, had previously promised that the trial would be interesting and also conveyed “greetings to everyone who called the female journalist negative remarks.”
Kryukova is a pro-Russian journalist who served as deputy editor-in-chief of the publication Strana from 2016 to 2022. In 2017, she posted bail for the publication’s founder, Igor Guzhva, who was tried for extortion and receiving $10,000 from a politician so that the publication’s website would not publish incriminating evidence against him.
According to the Chestno movement, Kryukova spread fakes about forced Ukrainization and fines for speaking Russian, and she called information about a possible Russian attack on Ukraine on the eve of a full-scale invasion “Anglo-Saxon disinformation.”
In 2022, the publication “Strana” fell under sanctions of the National Security and Defense Council. In July 2024, Kryukova herself announced that she was suspending her journalistic activities because she was going on maternity leave.
