Many workers were outraged by the proposed 25% wage increase, insisting on the originally requested 40% wage increase.
Workers at a Boeing plant on the West Coast of the United States went on strike. It was reported by Reuters.
The strike comes just weeks after new CEO Kelly Ortberg was appointed in August. He was chosen to restore confidence, especially after a door panel tore off the nearly new model 737 MAX on a flight in January.
Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) voted 96% in favor of a strike and 94.6% against the Boeing agreement.
The agreement between the planemaker and the union includes a total wage increase of 25%, a $3,000 signing bonus and a commitment to build Boeing’s next commercial jet in the Seattle area.
Many workers were outraged by the proposal, insisting on the initially requested 40% salary increase and criticizing the loss of the annual bonus.
It was previously reported that Boeing has agreed with the union to increase workers’ wages by 25% to avoid a general strike
We remind you that in Canada, more than 100 flights have been canceled due to the strike of aircraft mechanics.
