The Turkish leader expressed hope that the war will end in a just peace: established on the basis of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Crimea must return to Ukraine, and it must happen in accordance with international law. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated this in his video address to the participants of the Crimean Platform, reports the Turkish news agency Anadolu.
According to him, the annexation of Crimea, which was opposed by Turkey from the very first day, made it difficult for the Crimean Tatars, whose ancestors suffered deportation 80 years ago.
“Our support for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine remains unchanged. The return of Crimea to Ukraine is normalized by international law,” the Turkish leader said.
Ensuring the security and well-being of Crimean Tatars is one of Turkey’s foreign policy priorities, Erdogan assured, adding that Crimean Tatars have the right to a free, safe and peaceful life in their historic homeland.
“It is good to know that in June, after being imprisoned for almost three years, the deputy chairman of the National Assembly of Crimean Tatars, Nariman Dzhelal, we have already released the speedy release of all Crimean Tatars, including the brothers Asan and Aziz Akhtemov,” – said Erdogan.
The Turkish leader also expressed hope that the war in Ukraine will end with a just and stable peace, established on the basis of territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
We previously wrote that the Crimean Platform summit will take place in Kyiv. Temporary traffic restrictions will be in effect in the capital.
