American TV channel HBO has announced a casting call for the roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley for the television adaptation of the cult film series. Actors for Harry Potter will be chosen from children who will be 9-11 years old in April 2025.
Anyone interested in playing Hogwarts students must be a resident of the UK and Ireland. At the same time, the producers noted that they are “committed to an inclusive, diverse casting” that will be open to children of all races, ethnicities and genders.
The new series will air for at least seven seasons on the Max streaming service (formerly HBO Max). Each of them will be fully faithful to each of J.K. Rowling’s original books. In fact, the writer will be an executive producer on the series. And while the release date has not yet been determined, Warner Bros. Discovery (HBO’s parent company) CEO David Zaslav said in February that the launch is planned for 2026.
