The Toronto Television OSINT team has discovered in the leaked Russian FSB database “Border” data on numerous crossings of Russian border points by the Chief of Staff of the Unmanned Systems Forces Command Roman Gladkiy in 2014 and 2015.
Currently, he, in particular, served in the Ukrainian Navy Command. This was reported in the Telegram channel “Toronto Television”.
The database does not contain information about specific checkpoints, so Gladkiy could have traveled to Russia or to the temporarily occupied Crimea. But he was exposed because he was entered into the database when crossing the border, the publication notes.
It is noted that, according to information in the database, Gladkiy could have crossed border points dozens of times in 2014-15.
From 2014 to 2015, he crossed Russian border checkpoints 26 times. These were trips both to Russia (or to occupied Crimea) and from there. Including during his service in the Ukrainian Navy Command, the publication notes.
In particular, Gladkiy could cross border checkpoints when he already held the position of head of the surface and submarine forces department of the Ukrainian Navy Command.
In response to our request, the Navy reported that Gladkiy held this post from February 27, 2015 to January 1, 2016. During this time, he crossed the Russian border checkpoint 8 times, the publication notes.
It is noted that, according to the leaked Russian database, Gladkiy crossed the Russian border most often – 18 times – before February 2015, when he was a student at the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine.
In addition, the database also contains information about trips to Russia (or, probably, to occupied Crimea) by his wife Elena Gladkaya – 22 border crossings between October 25, 2014 and November 30, 2015, the publication notes.
Since July 2016, according to public information, Gladkyi was the Chief of Staff – First Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In 2018, according to the SBU counterintelligence, Russian special services approached Gladkyi with the aim of trying to recruit the officer. That same year, the media reported that Gladkyi’s wife had Russian citizenship. This was later confirmed by the Supreme Court.
In December 2020, Roman Gladkyi was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Joint Forces Operation Command.
From July 25, 2024, Gladkyi was appointed Chief of Staff of the Command of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Subsequently, the SBU in a commentary to “Ukrainska Pravda” reported that it did not conduct a background check on Gladkyi before his appointment to this position.
Following the media resonance, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrsky ordered the SBU to conduct an additional special investigation into Roman Gladky and removed him from his post.
