In the center of Kyiv, on the evening of September 10, Metropolitan Clement of Simferopol and Crimea was beaten.
In addition to serving in the church, Kliment is also a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Clement came to Kyiv at the invitation of the Crimean Platform.
Around 11:00 p.m., he was walking toward the Mikhailovsky Monastery, where he has a cell. Three people near the monastery stopped him and started beating him.
He claims that in order for the priest to stop, one of the three said: “Lord, bless!”
Therefore, according to Clement, the attack was planned.
Kyiv police announced the opening of a criminal case.
The incident has been registered and is being investigated. An investigative task force has arrived at the scene, is talking to the victim and is clarifying all the circumstances. We will provide additional information later, the National Police said in a statement.
The incident took place near the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.
