Princess Kate Middleton has completed chemotherapy. Her journey to full recovery continues. Kate is looking forward to returning to work and is planning several public appearances in the coming months.
In March 2024, the princess announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Before that, she had not appeared in public for several months.
The tumour was discovered during tests following an operation the princess underwent in January. The type of cancer was kept secret.
The type of tumor is not disclosed.
Kate made her first public appearance since her surgery in June at the annual Trooping the Colour military parade to mark King Charles’s official birthday, and in July she attended the Wimbledon tennis tournament, of which she is patron.
Earlier this year, a tumour was also discovered in King Charles III himself, also during another medical procedure, after which he also began to appear in public much less often.
“The summer is drawing to a close and I cannot describe what a relief it is to finish my chemotherapy,” the Princess of Wales said in a statement released by her press office. “The last nine months have been very difficult for our family. Ordinary life can change suddenly and we have had to find a way to navigate this storm.
Kate is reported to be taking part in a number of public events before the end of this year.
Kensington Palace also released a home video of the entire family, Kate, William and their three children, filmed in Norfolk, where the royal family has a residence at Sandringham House.

Kate is the wife of the heir to the throne, Prince William. After William’s father, King Charles III, ascended to the throne, the couple were given the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales, which are traditionally given to the first in line to the crown.
