Away from the small screen for four years, “Chaves”, which originally aired between 1973 and 1979 in Mexico, is set to return to TV soon
Yes, yes, yes! After four years away from the small screen, “Chaves” and “Chapolin” will be broadcast again on free-to-air TV, but this time on UniMás, a North American broadcaster that focuses on broadcasting Spanish-language titles. The productions will air on September 23 and 24, respectively.
AND IN BRAZIL?
The two works created by Roberto Bolaños (1929 – 2014) had not been shown on television since mid-2020, when Televisa, the company that produced the series, fought a legal battle with the family of Bolaños to define the division of production rights.
When they failed to reach an agreement, at the turn of the new decade, all channels in Latin America had to remove “Chaves” and “Chapolin” from their programming, including SBT, which had been showing the series on Brazilian TV for 36 years.
With the return of titles to UniMás and the streaming platform ViX, the broadcaster created by Silvio Santos (1930 – 2024) is also already in negotiations with the production rights holders, as reported by F5, from Folha de S.Paulo.
The NaTelinha portal (via Terra) also states that, in addition to TV, the broadcaster is also studying a possible addition of the series to the +SBT streaming service. The forecast for the re-release in Brazil has not yet been defined.
