The United States considers information about Iran transferring ballistic missiles to Russia alarming.
This was stated by the representative of the US National Security Council Sean Sevett, the Reutes agency reports.
We have been warning about a deepening security partnership between Russia and Iran since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and are alarmed by these reports, Sevett said.
Any transfer of Iranian ballistic missiles to Russia would mean a sharp escalation of Iran’s support for Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, he added.
In August, Reuters reported that Russia was expecting hundreds of Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles to arrive soon from Iran, and that dozens of Russian troops were being trained in Iran to use the satellite-guided weapons for use in the war against Ukraine.
Yesterday, September 6, the Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed American official, reported that short-range missiles have already been delivered by Iran to Russia.
Another US official told Reuters they were “closely monitoring” the potential transfer of Iranian-Russian missiles.
