Ukraine won gold and silver medals on September 6 during the Paralympic Games in Paris.
Ukrainian cyclist Yegor Dementyev became the 2024 Paralympic champion for the first time in 12 years in the road group race among athletes of classes C4-5. Before that, he won a silver medal in the individual pursuit on the track, but did not win a medal in the time trial in the race with a separate start due to a fall. The final start for Dementyev was the road group race. This was reported by “Obshchestvennoye Sport”.
At the finish line he was ahead of Frenchmen Kevin le Cunff and Gatien le Rousseau, as well as Maarten van de Pol from the Netherlands.
The silver medal for Ukraine was won by Ukrainian athlete Lyudmyla Danilina, who finished second in the 1.5-kilometer race at the Paris Paralympics. The athlete set a personal record in the discipline with a time of 4:28.40 minutes.
The Ukrainian runner was just two seconds short of beating Poland’s Barbara Beganowski-Zajac.
Let us recall that recently Ukrainian swimmers Yaroslav Denisenko and Maksym Veraksa won gold and silver medals in the 100m freestyle in the S12 class. On the same day, Ukrainian swimmer Anna Stetsenko also won silver in the 100m freestyle in the S12 class.
