The politician said he plans to create a commission to review the effectiveness of the government, headed by billionaire Elon Musk.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said that if he wins the election, he will create a commission on government efficiency headed by billionaire Elon Musk. This was reported by Reuters in connection with the speech of the former US President at the New York Economic Club on the outlook of the country’s economic development.
Sources with knowledge of the matter told the media that Trump discussed the idea of creating a government efficiency commission with his aides for several weeks, but the first time he publicly endorsed the idea was in a speech on Thursday.
Trump did not specify what the commission would do, other than developing a plan to eliminate “fraudulent and improper payments within six months of its creation.”
“I will create a Commission on Government Efficiency, whose responsibilities will include conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government,” Trump said at the Economic Club.
Musk has agreed to lead the body if it is created.
“I look forward to the opportunity to serve America if there is such an opportunity that I do not need a salary, title, or recognition,” the businessman assured X on the social network.
Earlier, the media wrote that Elon Musk donated to a fund supporting former US President Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election.
