A new package of military aid to Ukraine was announced during the Ramstein meeting.
US President Joe Biden will announce today, September 6, the allocation of a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of $220 million. This was stated by Pentagon Secretary Lloyd Austin before the meeting.
I am pleased to announce that today President Biden will announce an additional $250 million in assistance to Ukraine. This will increase our ability to meet Ukraine’s growing needs, he said.
Austin said the new aid package would help strengthen the capacity to meet Ukraine’s needs. But he stressed that new aid would flow to Ukraine in line with the speed of the war.
In addition, the head of the US Department of Defense recalled that in June, after the Ramstein meeting, the US pledged to provide Ukraine with security in the amount of over $4 billion.
As you know, today at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukrainian Defense is taking place, which is already the 24th in a row. The peculiarity of this meeting, in particular, is that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is taking part in it, and has already made a speech.
Recall that on August 23, the United States announced the 64th tranche of aid to Ukraine worth $125 million. The new package will include ammunition for HIMARS, 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, TOW missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, HMMWV armored vehicles, and small arms ammunition.
