The discovered painting was painted on an oak board and placed in a gold Dutch frame with hand-carved carvings.

A painting by Dutch artist Rembrandt van Rijn was found in an attic in Maine and sold at auction for more than $1.4 million. Associated Press reports.

A 17th-century painting called Portrait of a Young Lady was discovered by appraiser Kaya Wales on an estate in Camden. The painting has been in a private collection since the 1920s and was exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1970.

After intense bidding at auction, a European collector bought it for $1.41 million.
