English language skills of civil servants have been identified as important for Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
The UK will teach Ukrainian civil servants English. The program will last three years, the British government will allocate 3 million pounds sterling. This was announced on Monday, September 2, in a message on the Uryadovy portal.
According to the report, the program will focus on training civil servants working in areas related to Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration. The exercise will involve 1,400 people every year. The program includes individual lessons, small group classes, workshops and online courses.
It is indicated that all ministries can nominate candidates for participation in the English language program. The final selection of students will be made based on their participation in activities related to Euro-Atlantic integration. The final group of students will be approved by the program’s Supervisory Board, which includes representatives of the British Embassy in Ukraine, the British Council and the Ukrainian government.
Let’s recall that in June, President Vladimir Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the new status of the English language. The document proposes to define the categories of positions where the work will require mandatory knowledge of English.
