The Sports Palace in Kharkov was destroyed by Russian occupiers today.
This sports complex was one of three locations that were attacked by the invaders. The enemy attacked the Kharkiv Sports Palace, a shopping center in the Saltovsky district and Hydropark in the Kyivsky district. The Sports Palace was destroyed. According to preliminary information, the occupiers struck the building four times. The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
Once again, we remind you that #RussiaIsATerroristState, and Ukraine’s position remains unwavering. As long as Russian troops, with the support of the Belarusian government, continue to commit acts of genocide against the Ukrainian people, Russian and Belarusian athletes must be banned from participating in any international competitions in any status, the NOC emphasized.
The Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported that there may be people under the rubble of the sports complex. An employee of the establishment was trapped among the rubble, but it is now safe.
At least six impacts were recorded near the sports complex, some of which hit the ground.
Let us recall that on the afternoon of September 1, about 10 explosions thundered in Kharkov. Russians used ballistic missiles exclusively in civilian infrastructure at several locations. A shopping center, a Nova Poshta office, and a sports palace were damaged. 41 people were injured. Among the wounded were five children.
