After a series of attacks on Russian oil refineries, the Russian Federation lost 600 thousand tons of diesel production in just one month.
In August, diesel fuel production in Russia fell by 7.5% compared to June and reached 7.1 million tons, Reuters reported, citing industry sources.
According to the agency, Russian refineries lost 600 thousand tons of diesel production in a month and production in annual terms decreased by the same amount.
It was noted that significant subsidence was associated, in particular, with the accident at the Gazprom Neft Omsk Refinery, the largest in Russia. On August 26, an explosion occurred at the plant, which produces a tenth of all gasoline in the country, after which it was forced to stop business at one of the main oil refining units – AVT-11 (accounted for 41% of the capacity of the plant. ).
In August, Rosneft’s Ryazan Oil Refinery, which supplies fuel specifically to Moscow, cut its output by more than half. At the plant, a third of the main capacity and more than half of the diesel hydrotreating capacity are undergoing repairs, as a result of which production has decreased by 60%, or 240 thousand tons.
In addition, 160-180 thousand tons of diesel fuel left the market due to repairs at the Volgograd Refinery and Novokuybyshevsk Refinery. The first was attacked by drones twice this year and partially stopped production, but by summer all the damage was repaired.
Due to the decrease in the production of diesel fuel, Russian oil workers will sacrifice exports: its volumes in August fell to the lowest in almost a year – 2.7-2.8 million tons, Reuters estimates. According to LSEG data, exports of diesel fuel from Russian ports to Brazil in August may drop to the lowest level since February 2023 – about 450 thousand tons. Exports of diesel fuel from the Russian Federation to Turkey in August may decrease to 1–1.1 million tons.
We remind you that on August 28 in the Rostov region, after an attack by a UAV, a fire broke out in a refinery.
