Kamala Harris, US Vice President, gave her first interview as a Democratic presidential candidate.
The conversation mostly concerned domestic American issues. In Foreign Policy and in the interview in general, Harris never mentioned Ukraine. The text version of the conversation with journalists was published by CNN on August 30.
Harris assured that her priority will be strengthening and supporting the middle class. Her team will work on tax incentives and housing initiatives. The candidate also stated her commitment to the current White House policy on issues that are important to Americans.
The Democratic candidate also announced her intention to add a Republican to her cabinet. According to her, it is useful for citizens to have a representative of the other party in her government. However, there is no specific candidate yet.
She also responded to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s criticism of her race.
“Same old show. Next question, please,” she said.
On immigration, the vice president stressed the importance of law enforcement and said she was “the only candidate who has experience prosecuting transnational criminal organizations as attorney general.”
During the conversation about foreign policy, Harris focused on relations with Israel, saying that she would continue to provide it with defense assistance. The US presidential candidate said nothing about Ukraine and its continued support.
Recall that US Vice President Kamala Harris agreed to take part in two debates with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
