Analysts have noted a record decline even among Kremlin sociologists since the start of the mass invasion of Ukraine.
Russian government polling agencies recognize rising dissatisfaction with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin among Russians. This was confirmed by a report from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The Public Opinion Foundation on Friday, August 30, published a survey conducted on the 25th of this month. It showed that 28% of respondents expressed anger or dissatisfaction with the actions of the Russian authorities, up from 25% and 18% in surveys conducted by the foundation on August 11 and July 27, respectively.
Public Opinion respondents have not expressed such high levels of dissatisfaction since a survey conducted in November 2022 after the first month of partial demobilization in Russia, ISW said.
The Russian State Center for Public Opinion Research (VTsIOM) said that Putin’s approval rating fell from 77.1% to 73.6 (down 3.5%) between August 12 and 18. This is a record drop even that of Kremlin sociologists since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The latest VTsIOM poll on August 30 showed a further drop in Putin’s approval rating from 73.6% to 72.4% (down 1.2%) between August 19 and August 25, 2024.
Let’s remember that on August 20 we wrote that Vladimir Putin has not made public statements about the situation in the Kursk region for more than a week, where the Ukrainian military is conducting an operation, which continues expanding the territory under its control.
