Air defense remains a priority for Ukraine, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said.
Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umerov met with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin and discussed with him the supply of weapons to Kyiv. This was stated in a message from a Ukrainian official on Telegram.
The officer told Lloyd about the situation on the battlefield and Ukraine’s future goals. Ukrainian generals spoke about the main needs of the Ukrainian army in weapons, equipment and training of our military.
“We have discussed extensively the situation with Russia’s continued shelling of civilian objects and critical infrastructure. In the past four days alone, Russian invaders have attacked Ukraine with more than 400 different missiles and drones, ” emphasized Umerov.
According to him, air defense remains a priority for Ukraine: air defense installations and missiles are needed to protect critical infrastructure, cities and people.
“Another focus of the meeting was the development of the Ukrainian defense industry over the past two years, we have launched hundreds of new enterprises capable of quickly producing high-quality weapons ensuring more effective defense of Ukraine,” Umerov concluded. .
Earlier, Umerov reported that on Wednesday, August 28, the parties at the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting discussed additional plans to supply Ukraine with air defense systems and missiles for them, as well as the creation of a air defense shield.
