The Pentagon has commented on the data on the loss of the first F-16 fighter by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The United States is not assisting Kyiv in investigating the incident. The Americans have not received any requests from Ukraine for assistance in this investigation. This was stated by Deputy Press Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Sabrina Singh.
I saw the message, but there is no information about assistance being provided from our side or requests for it from Ukraine,” she noted.
According to her, only the Ukrainian authorities or the Ukrainian military can comment on the plane crash. The Pentagon has not confirmed the information about the causes of the crash and has not commented on the details of the incident or the details of possible electronic equipment on board the fighters. Singh called for comments on this matter to be addressed directly to Ukraine.
Washington also declined to comment on the number of F-16s that are already in Ukraine or planned for dispatch. They emphasized that this is a matter of operational security.
The Pentagon spokeswoman stressed that combat aviation is extremely complex and that the United States is proud to have been able to train Ukrainian pilots both in the United States and with the help of allies.
Let us recall that on August 26, during the repelling of a massive Russian missile attack, Ukrainian military pilot Alexei Mes, who was one of the first Ukrainian pilots to undergo F-16 training in the United States, died. The General Staff confirmed this information.
And People’s Deputy Marianna Bezugla stated that the Ukrainian F-16 fighter was shot down by “friendly fire” from a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system due to a lack of coordination between units.
