In anticipation of this winter, Germany and its partners in the European Union will contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.
The issue concerns the transfer of four more IRIS-T air defense systems and several Gepard self-propelled guns, Ukrinform reports from Brussels.
This was stated by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock before the start of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers on August 29 in Brussels.
Putin is waging a “cold war” to make people desperate and freeze. This is what we must prevent… Germany will transfer four more IRIS-T systems to Ukraine by the end of the year, additional Gepard self-propelled guns, because protecting the sky remains the most important for protecting human lives, she noted.
Baerbock said that partners are preparing a “protective umbrella” for Ukraine this winter to reduce the scale of destruction of the energy infrastructure and other facilities, which could be greater than in previous years. She noted that the attacks have intensified precisely in anticipation of the cold weather.
