Rosstat’s commentary states that “often, statistical data on fuel production can be used to put unjust pressure on the market and create an artificial rush.”
After a series of fires at oil depots and oil refineries in Russia, Russian authorities classified new data on the country’s fuel production. Russian media wrote about it on Thursday, August 29.
Figures on the production of diesel fuel, fuel oil, liquefied propane and butane were removed from the report of the Federal State Statistics Service published on August 28. It was noted that “this data is no longer published based on the decision of the government of Russia.”
At the end of May, Rosstat classified fuel production statistics. The Russian Ministry of Energy explained this event by the geopolitical situation and the threat of “market manipulation by unscrupulous participants.”
A new commentary from the federal service states that “often, statistical data on fuel production can be used to put unjust pressure on the market and create an artificial rush.”
In the past, Rosstat completely stopped publishing data on the production of petroleum products in the Russian Federation.
At the same time, it continues to publish the monthly dynamics of coke and petroleum production. According to the department, in July the output of such products increased by 7.2% in June, but decreased by 2.7% in July 2023. During the seven months of 2024, the production of coke and petroleum products in the Russian Federation decreased by 3.2%.
Let’s recall that recently the Ukrainian special services hit fuel warehouses in the Rostov and Belgorod regions of Russia. The composition of fuels and lubricants in the territory of the plant was attacked Atlas Offices of the Federal Agency of State Reserves of the Russian Federation in the Rostov region and the Gubkinskaya oil depot in the Belgorod region.
In addition, the Defense Forces attacked the Morozovsk military airport in the Rostov region. A massive explosion occurred at the facility.
